Review Top 7 Course Creation Software in Space

The E-learning industry expands, and the competition grows. However, it is still and will be one of the most in-demand industries.

Nowadays, due to competition, you have to make sure everything is perfect. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose the right platform. With the right platform, you will save time on routine tasks, enjoy good UI, enhance students learning experience and grow your business fastly.

So, if you are ready to discover the best Course Creation Software, let’s start!

Factors you should consider: point-by-point

In order to provide you with the best and most objective comparison, we are going to contrast the platforms within those five key factors. Depending on your goal, you may find one platform more suitable than another. Based on whether and how a platform fulfills the key feature, we are going to evaluate it from one to five. The platform that gains the most points is the best choice for you in general.

Ease of Use / 5 points

When you are creating an online course or an online school, you need to concentrate most of your time and effort on the content. You are an expert in a certain field, and it may not be programming. Even if you are able to create a website from scratch by coding or using platforms like WordPress, you have to admit that it’s very time and money consuming. There is a reason why you choose to put your online school on a ready platform — to save you the effort.

Now, it would be really disappointing if the platform you chose was complicated. You don’t have time or energy to untangle all of that, so a good platform must be easy to use. The interface must be intuitive; the design has to be beautiful, so you work with enjoyment, but it should not be too excessive or bright, so you’re distracted. This is a key part of a platform.

No matter how many features it has, it has to give you easy access to those features. We will grade a platform with 0 to 5 points according to these categories:

  • Aesthetics. How does the working space look? Is it ugly, or is it pretty and indulgent?
  • Distractibility. This shows whether the design prevents you from focused work.
  • Simplicity. Simplicity concerns how easy it is to use the platform for course-building purposes.
  • Documentation. Good platforms have instructions, Q&As, and blogs that describe how to use the platform.
  • Support. Customer support and service are essential to any kind of platform, especially for educational and entrepreneurship platforms. We will look for the presence of customer support, speed, and effectiveness.

Feature-rich / 5 points

Speaking of features, a good course builder should provide you with miscellaneous features. We divide the features into five different categories: builder, integrations, marketing, white labeling, and analytics.

The builder category includes everything that concerns the creation of the content. For example, a platform X may allow you to create videos, PDFs, and quizzes and customize them as you please.

The integrations category is whether a platform has partnerships with external platforms. E.g., a platform that provides security against hacker attacks or smooth financial transfers.

Marketing is everything you can use in a platform to promote your course, like search engine optimization, sales pages, email campaigns, etc.

White labeling allows you to present your online school as independent, so neither you nor your website visitors see that you used another platform to host your school. The features you look for are the availability of your own domain and white labeling of your emails, certificates, and website pages.

Automation is an amazing feature that will allow you to automate routine tasks, including some concerning marketing, in order to save a great deal of your time.

Lastly, Analytics. In order to improve your website and courses (and trust us, there’s always a place to improve), you need to know what works well and what doesn’t. A good platform must have either an internal or external way of analyzing your content and providing you with statistics.

According to the presence of these five categories for features, we will grade a platform with 0 to 5 points.

Course feature rich builder

Affordable and Flexibility of Pricing Plans / 5 points

This category is comparison-based, as it is hard to estimate the absolute value of platform use. The first thing we’re going to look at is the Price — quite literally, what is cheaper and what is more expensive. Then, it is the Annual Discount Amount; all platforms in this article have it, and we are going to compare the percentage within different platforms.

Another point will go for Flexible Plans — how many different plans does a platform have. After looking at absolute price value, we’re going to compare the Feature to Price Value — how many useful features per dollar. Lastly, we will find out whether a platform has a completely Free version or a free trial plan.

Finances / 3 points

Finances are graded by 0 to 3 points, showing how much of the finance work you will have to do yourself. These include:

  • Taxes. A platform will get the point if it deals with your taxes itself, allowing you to have even more free time.
  • Payment Reception. This category concerns the ease and speed of getting your payments.
  • Fees. Does the platform demand fees from your income?

Safety / 1 points

Most platforms are quite safe, but we still decided to put this category because it is important. We will look at how the platforms secure your online school.

Safety

Uteach

Uteach is a platform created by teachers for teachers — to monetize their knowledge and expertise with ease. The main advantages of Uteach are end-to-end live lesson automation and the possibility to create your own Blog within the context of your online school. Having a blog will allow you to share some content of your courses to promote your online school, increase search engine visibility and traffic on your website, and advertise your courses. Isn’t this great? Let’s have a look at the main features of Uteach:

  • Course builder. Course builder of Uteach is composed in a simple way that allows you to create your content without any technical restrictions.
  • Design. Uteach’s appearance is very pleasant to the eye. It is quite minimalist but is put together smartly — it will satisfy most users. Besides, the design is responsive, which means that it looks good on any device. To access it on the phone, you can download an application.
  • Live Lessons. Online synchronous lessons are possible and widely available on Uteach.
  • Assessments. If you want to put a quiz at the end of your course or somewhere in the middle (in fact, you can put a quiz in any place), you are welcome to do so. If you want to encourage your students. Both are highly customizable.
  • Third-Party Integrations. Uteach has third-party integrations with video-hosting platforms (like Zoom, InSpace, and Jitsi); marketplace integrations like Microsoft Outlook and Zapier. Integrations with Google family products like Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Integrations with social media are also available. Take Facebook Pixel, for example.
  • White Labelling. Uteach allows white labeling on emails, courses, certificates, quizzes, and the website in general.
  • Domain. Custom domain is available on every paid plan starting with the cheapest Basic.
  • Automation. One of the most noticeable features that Uteach offers is automation, so you will have an amazing opportunity to use modern-day technology and save time. This will automatically increase the return on investment.
  • Blog. Uteach is easy to use. Still, if you are finding yourself in trouble, you can always look up a solution in Uteach’s Blog. Besides, we have a Q&A section where you can find answers to the most common questions.
  • SEO. Uteach provides you with internal search engine optimization or using third-party integrations.
  • Payment reception. Your earnings go directly to your card (attach your bank account to your profile), and you don’t have to pay any fees.

Speaking of money, Uteach offers all the features you need at an affordable price. The main pricing options include the Free plan, Launch ($39 with 10% commissions), and Grow ($99). Most importantly, Uteach does not limit any features, and the paid plans include all the features. The pricing is flexible, especially for beginner creators, as you are charged based on your sales. For more functionality, Uteach also offers a custom plan.

Main advantage:

Full-features automation allows you to create a website in under 2 minutes. Also, allows you to automate routine tasks & save time. Uteach offers powerful live automation that allows you to hold end-to-end live sessions, integrating it with various video conference platforms.

As you can see, this platform fulfills all five categories that we outlined above, for which Uteach will get 18 points out of 19, as it does not offer a membership websites creation feature so far; however, it plans to provide one soon.

Uteach

Teachable

Moving on, we have Teachable. A platform with an easy design that allows you to share what you learn and get paid for that. The most salient and advantageous feature of Teachable is the Membership website creation: create ongoing content, divide it into folders, create hierarchical subscription-based membership, and lastly — create your own membership community.

Main features include:

  • Third-Party Integrations include Google Analytics, Sumo, and Segment for free plan users. Other apps are available for those with paid plans, including the famous Zapiro, ConvertKit, Mailchimp, and Circle, so Facebook Pixel and Triggers.
  • Custom domains. You can customize your domain, but complete white labeling is impossible.
  • Public API.
  • Integrated payment processing. Payments are really easily made via Teachable Payments.
  • Tax handling. You don’t have to think about your taxes with this platform. It is all automatized.
  • Application. Teachable has an app for more responsive use on mobile gadgets.
  • Membership Websites. As we already have mentioned, membership websites are not only available on this platform, but they are also the strongest part of it.

Let’s see how Teachable responds to the factors:

  • Ease of Use. The platform is very nice and pleasant looking. It is not distracting and has documentation. Full 5 points.
  • Feature-rich. White labeling is not provided to a full extent, plus marketing opportunities are hard to implement. For example, you have to use snippet codes to connect your separate blogging website (which is good for marketing and SEO) to your Teachable website. We grade it 3 points out of 5.
  • Affordable and Flexibility of Pricing Plans. Teachable costs $29/mo annually ( or $39/mo paid monthly) for Basic, $99/mo ($199/mo) for the Pro, and $249/mo ($299/mo) for the Business plan, which is not so bad discount-vise, and is quite flexible. But, the feature to price value is less than that of Uteach. 4/5
  • Finances and Safety. Teachable works brilliantly with finances (3 points out of 3) and with safety (1/1)

In total, we grade Teachable with 16 points out of 19.

Teachable

Thinkific

Thinkific is yet another platform for building your knowledge into business by marketing your expertise. The main advantage is represented by the opportunity of building a perfect community space for your students with:

  • Membership Websites
  • Group Chats
  • Certificates and Coupons

Main features include:

  • Live lessons and blended classes
  • Progress tracking
  • Assessments (quizzes, exams, certificates, surveys, etc.)
  • Communities and Memberships
  • Drag and Drop website builder
  • 0% transaction fees
  • Sell different kinds of products
  • Different types of selling (coupons, one time purchases, and subscriptions)
  • White labeling
  • Thinkific Apps (third-party integrations)

The price is not as good as the price of the two previous platforms, but it is still okay. You can get Thinkific’s Basic plan for $39 a month annually or $49/mo with a monthly subscription, the Pro for $79/mo or $99/mo, and the Premier version for  $399/mo or $499/mo. Since it’s more expensive generally and more complicated in the use and design, we give Thinkific 16 points out of 19.

Thinkific

LearnWorlds

Another platform for online course business is LearnWorlds. The main advantage of this particular platform is that you can build your own mobile app for iOS and Android without any coding skills required. The builder is simple and intuitive to use, so that’s lucky, isn’t it?

Main features include:

  • Transcripts. You can get synchronized transcripts of your video courses.
  • Interactions. You can add questions, titles, images, and other types of interactions to your videos without spending time on post-production.
  • All In Once. You upload your videos directly to LearnWorlds since it hosts everything itself.
  • Analytics. You can look up the statistics that show how your students interact with your videos and check whether they watched anything or not.
  • Highlights. You can add highlights and annotations to your course content.

Other features:

LearnWorlds get full for its simplicity and feature-richness, but it is very expensive; plus, it has fees. In total, we give LearnWorlds 16 points.

LearnWorlds

Kajabi

Kajabi advertises itself as a platform that provides you with “the best way to turn your knowledge into income.” It allows you to create your unique content and grow your audience, getting more and more income. The strongest part of this platform is Kajabi University which includes detailed videos about Kajabi itself and about the world of finance and business.

Besides, there are other similar features like Kajabi Blog, Kajabi Edge Podcast, and Kajabi Guides.

  • Landing pages. Design a beautiful and engaging landing page that will make your visitors become possible customers.
  • Marketing emails. Create sales email campaigns in order to create FOMO in users and make them buy your products.
  • Products. Kajabi provides you with different types of educational products like videos, PDFs, infographics, and others.
  • Templates for all types of designs are included.
  • Assessments. Create quizzes and surveys in order to check your students’ level of understanding of your material.
  • White labeling. Get rid of “Kajabi” on your landing page, emails, PDFs, et cetera.
  • Code Editor. If you have some programming knowledge and want to improve certain details, you are welcome to do so.

The platform’s customer support and content are incredulous, but it is quite expensive. The Basic plan itself costs $149/mo (or $119/mo if paid annually); the Growth is $199/mo (or $159/mo), and the Pro is $399/mo ($319/mo). All in all, we’ll give Kajabi full points for every aspect except for Affordability, for which we’ll give only one out of five. The total result is 15/19.

Kajabi

Podia

Podia is a platform that allows you to sell your content. Not unlike bullet journals, Podia allows you to keep everything in one place — you don’t have to choose between different types of digital products, so you can experiment and see which one suits you best.

The main advantage of Podia is the online community that it allows you to build. It is professional and concise, but it still allows your students to feel special and welcomed somewhere. Encourage your students’ academic careers via chats, posts, and comments. But let’s have a look at the main features:

  • Online Courses. You can upload every type of content, including videos and files, and your content can be commented on by your students, encouraging the development of both you and your students. Besides, you can do webinars and workshops.
  • Digital Downloads. Apart from the main course (pun intended), you can sell files to download, including PDFs, e-books, audiobooks, lists, presets, and whatever else your imagination can come up with.
  • Sales Emails. Create marketing email campaigns to promote your courses.

Although Podia is not as expensive as, for example, Kajabi, it is less cheap than Uteach and Teachable. Although, it’s very creative with the names. Let’s look at it:

Mover costs $39/mo but $33/mo if paid annually. Shaker is $89/mo (or $75/mo), and the Earthquaker is $199/mo ($166/mo).

Still, there are not so many features (we’ll give it 2 out of 5 points). So, in terms of affordability, Podia gets 4 out of 5 points. In total, we get 15 out of 19.

Podia

TalentLMS

Let’s talk business with TalentLMS, the final platform in this article — the last but not the least, as it is commonly said. It allows you to widen your audience by localization. You create your course in your language, and then you can localize it to your students' language.

Main features include:

  • Responsive design. The interface is user-friendly, so you get to create and edit your content without much effort or time use. Add a homepage and customize everything to your taste.
  • Live lessons are included!
  • Assessments — create tests and quizzes for your courses.
  • Folders. Divide your courses into theme-related groups.

Now, let’s tackle the most unpleasant feature here — the price. There is a free (and quite limited) version out there, but it is limited to 5 users and ten courses in total. The Starter will cost you $89/mo (or $69/mo if paid annually) and is limited to only 40 students. The Basic is either $189 or $149/mo (limited to 100 users).

Plus is limited to 500 students and costs $369 or $279/mo. Finally, Premium costs $569 or $459/mo with the 1000 students’ capacity. This is quite expensive, so we’re getting TalentLMS 1/5 in the Affordability category. The features are 3 out of 5; as you can see — there are not so many. All in all, it’s 13 out of 19 points for TalentLMS.

TalentLMS

Safety

Now, a couple of words about the safety of the platforms.

The reach of Uteach is quite wide, including European citizens. In order to safely work with them, Uteach updated its protective mechanisms according to the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). So all the other platforms, e.g., Thinkific, Kajabi, Teachable, TalentLMS, and LearnWorlds, are also GDPR compliant.

There is no reason to think that any of those platforms are unsafe. Hence they all got graded maximum.

Best platform for you

Now that we compared and contrasted all the seven platforms and graded them according to the criteria we outlined initially, it is time to resume. Starting from the bottom, we have:

  • TalentLMS disappointed us by getting 13/19, which is the seventh place.
  • Kajabi and Podia did a bit better, having 15 out of 19 points.
  • LearnWorlds, Thinkific, and Teachable all share second place by receiving 16 points.
  • This leaves Uteach to be the winner — not by just outrunning other platforms but by getting all 18 out of 19 points!

Let’s again have a look at why Uteach is the ultimate platform for you:

  • Ease of Use. We gave all 5 out of 5 points to Uteach for Ease of Use because the platform looks very aesthetically pleasing, which is not at all distracting during the work. Besides, it’s so minimalistic and modern that the majority of users like the design. The interface is intuitive to work with and beginner-friendly, plus there is very detailed documentation. And, of course, quick customer support and Q&A section.
  • Feature-rich. Uteach had miscellaneous features that can be categorized into builder-related, third-party integrations, marketing, white labeling, and analytics. Each section has many sub-categories that are useful and spread equally throughout the different plan subscriptions. Full 5 points here.
  • Affordability & Flexibility of Pricing Plans. Uteach’s absolute price is quite low. The annual discount amount is up to one-fifth of the price. The plans are flexible, and the feature-to-price value is high. And there is a working Free version. 5/5
  • Finances. Everything Uteach does fulfills all 3 points from 3 in the Finances category.
  • Safety. Uteach is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation of the EU and provides safety for its users.

Uteach is a platform that is so rich in features that it will be a perfect choice for all of you.
